Spoon River NAVHDA Chapter

Its that time ofyear again! It takes lots of preperation, help and coordination to put on a Chapter test. We for the most part put on one HECK of a good test on some of the best testing grounds Central IL. has to offer. People leave happy and usually  give good comments on our Chapter.

If you are a member of our Chapter, or not, New to the club or a seasoned member, volunteering to work at the test is a great way to get a hands on view of what it takes to finally test our dogs on the very training we have been working at. Too many of the same members are having to do all the work every year. If you have tested a dog in the past, had help training from any of the members, or just belong to NAVHDA, conider this as a way for you to pay back a little of whats been given to you.

If you can not make a test day to work..... Plan ahead and maybe help clean up Dons clubhouse, weedwhip, set up healing course, etc. You know, cleaning or grounds keeping at Dons always keeps us on better terms with Don, and its a good way for people to get to know him and butter him up.

Sat. May 22 we will need....

Runner- runs errands, hauls birds, water to judges, etc.

Gunner for N.A.- fires 2 blanks when prompted by judges.

Bird planter- rides 4 wheeler and plants birds before each brace.

Field Marshal- informs thetesters and audience of whay we are doing, gives instructions,etc.

Cook- if anyone is interested in cooking out on a grill for the test-(burgers, hot dogs etc.) sign up.

On Sun. May 23. will need.......

Runner

2 gunners- capable of shooting the birds (very important to hit them)

Bird planter

Field Marshal

Cook

We will also need coolers, ice, a 4-wheeler, grill, and water stations set up for dogs, heeling sticks and blind set up, Dons meeting room cleaned, weed whip around club house and help removing all of this stuff when the test is over. If enough people volunteer, it should be a simple project.

I will play whatever role you think needs played.  Full day Saturday, half day Sunday availability.  Are we cooking or heading to the Pit?

In regards to the potential May 15 training day--I am interested in being there at least in the morning for some training and helping others.

I am interested in helping plant birds on Saturday the 22nd.   Someone will need to show me the ropes, as this is the first hunt test I will be attending.
