Recently went to Willow Creek - IDNR/Pheasants Forever land.  It's beautiful ground w/ lots of great cover, some thorns and lots of deer, but has anyone had any success with pheasant or quail?  Went on my friend's permit, mine will be coming up early December.  Trying to decide If I'm going back or going to Jim Edgar.

I have heard of people having success at these habitat areas. But they usually are the first people to hunt them. Most of the areas I know of do not hold enough birds to interest me. Dont let me discourage you though. Any time out is a good time. I just prefer to get into birds!!!

Jim Edgar is an excellent place to go. They have tons of fields with excellent cover. It is no wonder that they are booked solid every year. If you have not already reserved, you will have to go as a standby. They take 10 standbys everyday and will fill no-show hunters spots.

I just tried it for the first time last week and was imressed with the park. It was warm and the birds were running, but they were no match for our dogs and swift shooting skills (Ha, Ha!)

We also tried another State park that I probably would not go back to. But Ill let you visit them all and form your own impression. Have fun.

Thanks for the input and we did not know you had to put in for Jim Edgar.  My permit for Willow Creek is coming up in December and we had planned on going to Jim Edgar instead.  Might have to make a few calls.  Thanks.
