I would like to ask some opinions on a late winter fun hunt. Would folks rather do a competitive bird hunt/clay shoot or a sporting clays round at a local club? I'd like for our Chapter to make a little money and I think the sporting clays may be easiest to set up. Opinions/suggestions? I also want to know if everyone might be okay with hosting the spring test at Yergler's Preserve in Pekin? It would be nice to start moving tests around a bit if possible just to see new places and keep it interesting.

Does May 14-15 work for a spring test date? How about March 5 for the fun hunt date?

I would say just do whatever makes the chapter the most money. Either works for me.

Sounds great. Lets notify our judges, get the state permit and birds locked in! Have we determined if we have a test secretery? Is the fun hunt a competitive type thing like other chapters do? Or just a hunt with fellow members? Let me know what you have in mind, and I might have some ideas on how to make it profitable.

Hello all, I would like to ask for everyone's vote on the 2011 annual meeting/Fun Hunt. Please take the time to simply email me or go online to our forum and vote for one of the possibilities below. The date most of us have agreed upon is Saturday, March 5. Don's is pretty much out of the picture at this time of year because of lack of cover.
1. sporting clays round at Oakridge Sportsman's Club near Mackinaw, IL (40$ for a round and food each) 2. clay shooting and fun hunt at Lick Creek Game Preserve (minimum 40$-50$ for birds and food each) 3. sporting clays and 3 birds each at Oakridge (60$ each) 4. Other ideas are always welcome
Please also let me know whether or not you plan on attending, obviously. I'd really like to get as many of us as possible get together even if you aren't participating. Kids are always welcome and suggested!! Please also let me know if you might be testing a dog or know of someone who might be testing a dog this spring with our Chapter. If I missed anyone with this email, please help me out by forwarding on.
Thanks, take care, and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

New date proposed for the fun hunt and clay shoot: February 26th at Yergler's Lick Creek Game Preserve. We will have a clay shoot, lunch, and a competitive fun hunt. You can participate in any of the mentioned events you'd like and cost will be variable from 20$-60$, depending on what you'd like to do that day. Does that work better or worse for anyone? I really would like to have a good attendance so we can get together as a group and discuss this year's tests, chapter training purchases, etc. . . Please respond with whether or not you will attend via email or on this post. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It looks like we will be putting on our annual meeting and fun hunt/clay shoot Saturday, March 5 at Yergler's Lick Creek Game Preserve. I will discuss eating options with Jeff, or we may just order some subs that day. The plan is a little up in the air right now, but we plan on having something for everyone--clay shooting, fun hunt/training opportunity, and potential for some competition.
